"On my best behavior…Maybe"

Rooting For Failure…

My Mom ( rest in peace) used to regularly say “Mark, don’t cut your nose off to spite your own face!” And while I knew what she meant, I’d never really SEEN anyone metaphorically cut their own nose off to spite their own face.

But over the last few years I have and it’s such a crazy spectacle to see.

To be an equal opportunity offender in this observation, I’m going to start with my left-wing friends today, and the way they reacted during the first part of the COVID pandemic.

I remember sitting in a horrified state watching the stock market tank during COVID. Horrified. At the time I was 56 ( now 59 obviously) when the DOW and other stock indices began plummeting. Horrified. So imagine my surprise when I had friends publicly CHEERING for the market to tank…who does that? Give up your retirement to rag on the President? My comments back then were “I wish they wouldn’t let him do a daily briefing! Because every time he opens his mouth the market drops!” And I received replies with words to the effect of “Good…maybe that will make everyone realize how bad he is and…” Anything that came after that “and” was usually just left wing fantasy about Trump being impeached over COVID or something equally implausible.

Fast forward to the market opening today. Twitter, Truth Social, etc. are on fire with Conservatives rooting for mass bank failure because “It’s Biden’s fault…” Maybe it IS. I think more adjusted minds would say that the Silicon Valley Bank situation was fairly unique. And if that we’re looking for a catalyst to why they failed, Biden had very little to do with it. But that starts an argument that I don’t want to have. At least not here.

So…the world knows how I feel about former President Trump. To be honest, President Biden wasn’t my first or second choice for the Democrats in 2020, either. But will I root for bank failure?

That was a rhetorical question.

I could have laced this post with Twitter screen shots, but don’t feel the need to.

If you’re tempted to root for our own failure…please do it in your own padded cell.

Have a great Monday.
